I am an enterprise data platform and database engineering leader with over 15 years of experience designing, operating, and optimizing large-scale data infrastructure within the financial services industry.
Today, I lead database platform initiatives that support hundreds of SQL Server environments powering mission-critical systems for financial institutions across the United States. My focus is on building platforms that are reliable, scalable, and operationally efficient—enabling engineering teams to move faster while maintaining stability and control.
My Journey
My career began in application and database support, where I developed a deep understanding of how systems behave in real-world production environments. Over time, I transitioned into database engineering and platform leadership roles, taking on increasing responsibility for performance, reliability, and scalability across enterprise systems.
As I progressed, I became less focused on individual technologies and more focused on system, how platforms are designed, how teams interact with them, and how organizations deliver software effectively. This shift led me toward platform engineering, DevOps practices, and reliability-focused operating models.
What I Focus On
My work centers on modernizing and scaling enterprise data platforms, with an emphasis on:
- Building and leading database and data platform engineering teams
- Transforming legacy environments into scalable, automated platforms
- Driving DevOps and platform engineering adoption across infrastructure teams
- Improving reliability, observability, and performance of mission-critical systems
- Aligning technology decisions with business outcomes
Experience at Scale
Throughout my career, I have worked in environments that operate at significant scale, including:
- 1,000+ SQL Server instances in enterprise production environments
- Platforms supporting 10,000+ financial institutions
- High-throughput, 24×7 mission-critical systems
- Multi-million dollar infrastructure optimization initiatives
These experiences shaped my approach to database engineering and platform design, reinforcing the importance of scalability, reliability, and disciplined operational practices.
Leadership Philosophy
I believe strong engineering organizations are built on systems, not individuals.
My role as a leader is to create environments where teams can deliver reliably at scale by reducing friction, investing in automation, and enabling engineers to focus on high-value work. I place a strong emphasis on platform thinking, building capabilities that can be reused, scaled, and continuously improved.
Great platforms enable great teams, and great teams drive lasting impact.
Continuous Learning
In addition to my professional work, I am currently completing my Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at Kennesaw State University. This has allowed me to expand my knowledge into areas such as web development, cybersecurity, and modern software systems.
I am a strong believer in continuous learning and regularly invest time in developing both technical and leadership skills.
Outside of Work
Outside of my professional career, I am actively involved in my community and leadership roles. I serve on my local HOA board, my local church, and also participate in F3, a community focused on fitness, leadership, and service.
I am also a husband and father, and I place a high value on balancing professional growth with family and community.
Writing & Sharing
I share insights on data engineering, leadership, and platform strategy based on real-world experience building and leading enterprise data platforms.
